Re: Gearbox drop link
It's an easier fix if you remove the pyramidal cover that is on the rear deck above the gearbox.

Re: Door Locks
Amazing! I now have doors that can be closed from the inside. The mod was done with a Swiss army knife. Thank you Ed (and many others in this forum). You guys are an essential part of the reason I got a Pinz. Cheers to all.

Re: Fire extinguisher placement
I copied ScottishPinz's placement, only mine are still vertical. One sits on the tow cable, the other one on the table. As I didn't find anything better, they are held to the screen by rubber straps, with a small rubber mat between FE and screen. And after reading you guys, am thinking of installing...

Re: Burning oil
OK, so I'll search for the Castrol for my next change, and will post results when they happen. Any reason for not using Castrol Syntec? I've read some guys don't like the cleaning effect of synthetics and swear by the distilled oils.

Burning oil
How much is normal? My 710K burns a quart of oil (Pennzoil SAE 30) every 500 miles. The oil doesn't leak and the engine doesn't smoke. Should I be checking compression, or should I simply change the oil to SAE 40 or Castrol SAE 30 as other forum contributers have suggested in other threads? I have a...

Re: Wiper motor cleanup
Forgot to mention that when the armature is stuck and you turn off the motor it still has power until the wipers reach their resting point. Try not to get your fingers caught between the armature and magnet. It's better to use some rag or something to try to turn the armature by hand.

Re: Wiper motor cleanup
OK, so I took the motor apart (not the gearbox) and cleaned it thoroughly, though it wasn't dirty at all. Greased it well (the armature shaft) and put it back together. Not once. Maybe 50 times in four hours. Trial and error. The main problem was the two screws holding the brass fixture that holds t...

Re: Wiper motor cleanup
Yes, also nuts on the loose and lost/missing nuts. You guys are funny. Anyway, I drenched the motor with the spray motor/contact cleaner on site twice and blew out the excess. I loosened the two rear brasslike support screws and tried to play around with the armature but there is no leeway, so when ...

OK, so how do you "realign the armature"?

Wiper motor cleanup
Gentlemen, My wiper motor gets stuck and smokes every once in a while when I try to start it. If I remove the cover and turn the armature by hand until it feels free then it starts OK for about 6 or 8 tries. and then gets stuck again. I'm pretty sure I need to clean it but haven't read here or elsew...
