Part II - Restoration and Exploration - Aaron's TGB 1111
The more time I spend on the truck the more little cool things I discover. (well, duh, of course it's all new to me). It's such a cool feeling. Driving around and getting non stop thumbs up, that's also cool. The truck is purring, leaking a little oil and I love it. https://aclark79.smugmug.com/Volv...

Had the chassis number inspected and getting a specialty plate. 177 total and I won't need to DEQ. And with that I close this th...

Re: Part I, the import.
I got a trip permit from Washington State, no problem, was easy to get. It's good for three days. I believe you can get up to three for the same vehicle on a year?

Re: Part I, the import.
Thank you Kevin and Shawn. Picked up the truck today at the shop. Initially none of the lights were working, the blackout light switch was engaged. Quick fix there. All the fluids were changed and the truck started right up! I started driving south along I5 and at my first fuel stop discovered a lot...

Re: Video campaign shirts - for those who ordered one
I tried emailing and it wouldn't let me, then got an error on the spam page. XL works fine.

Re: Part I, the import.
Success! Pictures to follow tomorrow or Thursday. The truck was released yesterday and today I got the word it was ready for pickup. It all happened pretty late in the day so I was glad I had prepped already for the pickup. Of course I forgot to take any pictures when I actually picked it up... oh w...

Re: Part I, the import.
I'm bringing the good camera, so high res pics it will be. The agents said it's cleared customs and she will call the steamship line tomorrow to make sure it has a release at the terminal. Worst case it takes till Wednesday, but hopefully tomorrow it will be ready and I can either drive it down Tues...

Re: Part I, the import.
I'm not particularly impatient, in fact I think I've been very patient. The frustration is that they missed the first boat because they forgot about me. I waited and waited without bugging anyone and then finally called asking for an update and the first two people in the office didn't know anything...

Re: Part I, the import.
Hah! At this point it would be faster if you had received it there and it shipped up I5 on a flatbed. Oh well, I can be angry, but it won't change anything or make it go faster so... no point in staying mad. I did have a long conversation with the shippers agent, I did some venting about their perfo...

Re: Part I, the import.
So.... frustrating day. For whatever reason the ship continues to sit in Oxnard Ca. It now is estimated to arrive on the 13th. That's a Thursday. Now Horizon tells me to expect 2 days processing and customs as well as agricultural spraying (this is the first time they have told me this. The represen...

Re: Part I, the import.
Not very impressed with Horizon Auto Shipping, the importer I'm using. Getting information out of them about the move is like pulling teeth. I had to email twice to confirm the arrival day of the ship. Confirmed that it arrives today. Funny, all the ship tracker sites show it still in the Port of Ox...

Congratulations.
The most important thing to do is take lots of pictures so we can all admire your handiwork.
Seriously though, welcome to the club.

Re: Part I, the import.
Awesome! Thank you, and I appreciate you making it easy. I've got coolant, grease and lead substitute waiting at my parents place (the first place I'll take it from the dock). I'll just order some of the recommended oils as well.
