Re: Body repair - rust removed, advice needed

All the repair sections needed are fairly simple and any competent sheetmetal worker should be able to cut, bend and/or hammer form the required sections, if you can't do them yourself. That badly corroded lower part shown, is a 3mm thick bracket (from memory), so it may be OK to still use it given ...

Re: NSW Australia Pathfinder for sale on GumTree

The final 100 or so Pathfinders went to Australia because....... Hmmm, I don't know where the other 60 went because we only got 40 :D :D I had a figure in my head that around 30+ or so were shipped to Australia but it's been bugging me as to whether this was right or wrong so I rang Tony H earlier ...

Re: Engine rebuild

I didn't get any actual figures at the time of asking, but I'm sure if you asked the question on Robi's Forum, WF or someone else will be able to help you out.......I'm only suggesting you ask on Robi's forum as TD Pinny's are far more prevalent in Europe.

Re: NSW Australia Pathfinder for sale on GumTree

We only ended up with the "Pathfinders" in Oz because at the time Haflinger production was mooted to close, Barry Jones (MD of Haflinger Sales and Service in Springvale, Australia) managed to get a shipment bound for the US "redirected" to Australia........Sorry guys :D Blocking ...

Re: Connecting rod length

If you want to improve the original motors performance your best way, in my opinion is to go for a 2.7 litre conversion......It increase the compression ratio and obviously the power output.
It was one of the improvements the factory made to the last air-cooled Pinzgauer's produced.

Re: Brake Drum Restoration - and query

Your brake drums are looking good! However out of necessity, I went one step further when I "rebuilt" my 712 drums a few years ago, as they were pretty much knackered. Firstly I sand blasted the whole lot (braking surface as well) then I had the braking surfaces metal sprayed and machined ...

Re: 718 Rebuild

Well it's been a while since I posted any pics of the rebuild and as a few people have contacted me asking what's going on I thought I'd better make an effort to post some more pics. I've been busy with work etc, but now that the Uni year is virtually over and the current research projects are comin...

PUCH-AUTOMOBILE 1900-1990 by Friedrich F Ehn. ISBN 3-900310-54-8.

It's all in German/Austrian, but this is one of the most respected and comprehensive sources for information on Steyr Puch's history, R&D and production that is available.
