Re: fan pulley came apart at speed on the highway

Ya, I guess I am the guilty party here with a somewhat less than complimentary comment about SAV's belts
Just to clear the air, I am a HUGE fan of SAV, I should give Willie a call on the belts though.

Re: fan pulley came apart at speed on the highway

SAV has 1/2 thickness shims. I have found cases where adding the stock shim was TOO tight, delete one stock Shim was too loose. These 1/2 thickness shims solved that problem. I toque to spec and have never had a case where the nut loosened, but now you have me think'n about Blue Loctite. Now that I ...

Re: AVGAS, as a lead additive.?????

If you looked at my posting on Valve Seat Ression see the PIX. That was #1 and had Zero PSI. If you have older heads that have never been re-worked, then the seat will NOT be hardened. This may not be a problem for you if don't run your Pinz at high load and RPM e.g. long HWY runs. If this is your s...

Re: AVGAS, as a lead additive.?????

Lucas sells an "Octane" booster, that uses MMT as an additive. MMT will provide a metallic salt at the valve seat and prevent wear. This additive was used in the U.S. as a lead substitute after the removal of Lead for some number of years. More on this here: http://real4x4forums.com/Pinzga...

Re: GMRS/FRS

Although a tad more expensive, the BaoFeng BF-F9 V2+ is functionally
the same as the UV5R but 2X the power at the antenna. You should also
invest in the programming cable. Programming these puppies from the
keypad is a PITA. Amazon is the place to go...

Re: GMRS/FRS

There are rules/restrictions for GMRS and in fact all bands for that matter. For GMRS you need a license to operate, but no test just a $65 payment and then anyone in your immediate family gets to play on this band using your lic. The restrictions are POWER level 50W max, a restriction on antenna he...

Re: New to the board - Pinz 710K shopping

Perhaps serendipitous, maybe it's called a Pinzgauer because like the horse of it's name they need a lot of care and feeding -- unlike a Jeep which can be taken care of by just about any shop within a city block. So....if your passion 90% SAR and 10% the horse your riding you may find your Jeep a be...

Re: Here's something to cringe at!

BMW had something similar, twice the power and a "front loader".
I think the body ideas came out of post war Italy ala Fiat, the BMW isetta 300.
Didn't take long for these guys to eventually eat our lunch though :(
