Re: 24v fuel pump and regulator

"I just didn't like cranking the engine to build up fuel pressure whenever the truck sat for a long time, which is often." (sorry, have not learned to quote yet) This. This has been on my mind lately. Is there another way to not have to deal with that issue? I am thinking like a foot valve...

Re: Another great reason to drive an older 4x4

Yep, I've got a war time BSA motorcycle (WM-20) that can start and run w/o a battery, just no lights. Still blows my mind.

Much simpler times and mechanics, reason I own what I do.

And if you think hacking cars is scary stuff, they can hack commercial airliners as well...

Re: molex connector and dielectric grease

+1 for the dielectric grease. Easy to do and will be a bit of preventative maintenance for the future. If you have not already, I would put in a couple of LED volt meters to watch the electrical system in real time (one for each battery). Jim put up a really helpful post on that topic and it's reall...

Re: A Quick Introduction

Welcome, I recently purchased a 710M this year as well. This site is very helpful and filled with some very knowledgeable people. Use the search function, there is not much you can do to the truck that has not been discussed at length, usually. Great classic to learn on, simple engine design, and ve...

Re: Engine Won't Start

I'm seconding the advance weights. Either stuck, or not timed correctly to take into account the advance. Will give the same symptoms, Idle's fine, but bogs down when you put gas to it. Kind of like running to lean, or incorrect jetting.

Re: Pinzgauer 710M in hot climate

My 710 lived previously in the desert of Arizona, Quartzsite to be exact, and was used off-road for hours/days at a time. No issue.

I don't think a properly maintained pinz is going to be any better or worse than another air cooled vehicle of that age.

Re: 24v DC to AC converter - actual user input wanted

Sanel SC2420. 24V - 12V/20A DC/DC Converter Installed by PO. Runs a Ham Radio and CB, 3 interior lights, and 4 cigarette lighters for powering electronics GPS, charging phone, etc. I think it ties into my RPM gauge as well, but don't trust me on that, have not really traced the wires yet. Don't know...

Re: intermittant miss

Would you suggest some sort of shrink wrap or electric tape around the crimped part of the connection?

Re: Intercom

I have taken a slightly different approach, mainly because I am cheap. Who knows how well this will work or not? The delivery just showed up today. I bought a pair of motorcycle com units for less than 100 bucks. They connect up to 3-4 riders, and connect to a phone via blue tooth. They are made to ...

Windshield wiper - easy fix

I was experiencing similar problems to a lot of people on this board, intermittent wiper function at first, then just a total loss of function. Weird thing about mine was that the Hi beam indicator would light up real bright when I pulled the on/off switch, but nothing would happen. After cleaning e...

Re: Spring Time lets keep them running

My truck came with a VDO oil temp gauge, but it never moved, which I though weird. After tracing wires, hooking everything that was not hooked up, and grounding the thing, it seems to be working. I am going to be testing this next time I am out for distance, but it makes me feel better that I can mo...

Re: Spring Time lets keep them running

I was speaking to a friend about this issue and he was curious to know how hard it is to get a replacement engine, should something catastrophic happen. He seemed to think a bearing would be more likely to go out than rings or other things. I know Jim had said transmissions were hard to source, so c...

What kind of work are you looking to have done? Engine, low end/top end, diffs, fuel system?

Might help for suggestions from other members, just a thought.
