Re: Haflinger type BN2 Heater info/pics

Just an FYI If someone is looking for a BN2 they also came in VW cars and are readly available. My suggestion though is to pick up ma more modern BN4 heater as they have a better safty system for burning off unused gases in the chamber. Remember though these little heaters were natorius for causing ...

Re: Laplander C202 Volvo

I fear the price is reflective of all the cancer this little truck has.
I would love to pick this up and add it to the collection but the amount of custom pannels that would have to be formed and fitted would take me hundreds of hours. Something I am not prepaired to do at the moment.

Re: Wanted To Buy in Las Vegas 710

Personally having owned both, the 710 is faster on the freeway but the 712 is more stable both on the freeway and on the dirt. Moth are relitivly slow compared to a modern vehicle. In the 710 I would drive 60 to 66 and the 712 55 to 60 mph For NV weather I would go with a M but a K would prevent mor...

Re: Restoration of the

I stripped mine with Oven cleaner, then took it to the polishing wheel and made her shine line a piece of Jewlery. Afterwards I painted it with white black and green. Once Painted I took a piece of deer leather with a little MEK on it and polished off the unwanted paint. Total time from start to fin...

Re: Wanted To Buy 712 or Volvo 304

I am assuming you have done your homework on the differences between the Pinz and Volvo trucks and know how hard parts are to source for the latter. Scott at EI does not have any listed on his site in San Fran but has resources to find them. I suggest you contact him first. Also in case you were una...

Re: For Sale San Francisco Bay Area 73 712W Craigslist link

Any particular reason no pictures of the truck? Kinda hard to peak someone's interest if they can't see some shots of it.

Re: Shifter linkage

SAV is an invaluable resource for parts, but please remember that Scott at IE carries alot of parts as well and supports this website (advertising on top of page) plus offers great technical support when asked. Parts he carries are also typically less expensive. This is a small community and all the...

Re: Exhaust re-do

Very nice write-up - thanks! Who did your ceramic coating? I want to do the same thing some time. So did you leave the front connection of the flex couplers to the headers just clamp on? no exhaust leak there? Did you also have the flex coupler ceramic coated? The slotted bolts are interesting - ha...

Re: Haffie Engine Issues

You can take them off in the truck a bit harder but doable. On top of removing the cooling tin from the head and cylinder, make sure you pull the pushrods as unlike a VW they are angled and will keep the head from being able to separate.

Re: Haffie Engine Issues

No you can take them off in the truck but like a VW it is easer to pull the motor.
Remember to pull the push rods before you try to separate the head from the cylinder. In the truck it could be over looked. At the angle they sit you could damage something if you try.

Re: Haffie Engine Issues

While not cheap Leo here in the states builds amazing heads for these little motors and can also do a much needed oiling system upgrade to the motor to run the higher revs An email to him and he may share some of his wisdom on this. He mainly builds pinch 500 race motors that can turn 10k to 12k rpm...
