Re: Clutch Master Cylinder
Hi Ron, I just did mine earlier this summer and ran into the same issue. Yes, I was able to pull another inch or two from the line and I put about a 1 to 1-1/2" radius in the line just before the fitting and get it into the master port. Not really much to it (but I was likewise bummed that I ha...

Re: Auxillary switch placement- What have you done?
Jim, Do you have a photo of the mounted radio head you mention mounted over the wiper switch? And, tell me more about what appears to be an inclinometer in the front. DSC05044.JPG This is the head as seen from driving position. I can just reach the buttons/knobs while keeping my thumb hooked on the...

Re: Auxillary switch placement- What have you done?
I finally updated the images (in the link that I first posted) of the overhead console. Like Ron, I have added an additional switch (for a rotating emergency beacon) to the panel where the emergency flasher switch is located. I also have two circuit breaker switches attached to the left edge of the ...

Re: Auxillary switch placement- What have you done?
Yes, all the old photos that I linked (from Photobucket, of course) are gone, but I can get them replaced - http://real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerBBS/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6927 had the information about the overhead console that I made for just such needs: floodlights, circuit breakers, GPS, Tire pre...

Winch, sminch! We don't need no stinking winch, we have 20+ people that can push!Well that's not very useful because it has no winch!

Re: Speedometer removal
Take it off, hook the speedo cable directly to the speedo, and report back...Does 10% low reading with the 90 degree unit sound about right to you?

Re: Faulty flasher switch?
The emergency flasher switch is pretty simple, mechanically (but somewhat complex electrically), and easy to disassemble for cleaning and lubricating. But it is not sealed (which is why it is easy to disassemble) so dust and dirt can enter, get trapped by the lubricant, and cause wear and malfunctio...

Re: Splitting Axle
Is the chisel a magic little tool or will any cold chisel do? Well, the chisel needs to be narrow enough to be able to get started in the slot, then gradually get thicker as to wedge the slot open enough to get it off the stub before the chisel hits the stub. I would think that a 3/4" or 1&quo...

Re: Substantial oil leak aft of oil pan
Another clue would be that gear oil can have a smell that is distinctively different than motor oil. See if you can smell the difference, and apply that to what is dripping. But based on the color, I would expect that you are seeing motor oil. With the wind buffeting around the leak could be almost ...

Re: Splitting Axle
Another trick that I have heard of (not done myself) is to get a "porta power" type tool: https://www.harborfreight.com/4-ton-hea ... 62115.html and is supposed to be faster and easier to remove the axle from the stub.

Re: Speedometer removal
I think you have it covered. The 90 degree angle fitting is optional; I think if you check it carefully you will find that the output (the side that goes into the speedo) is several percent faster than the input. If your mechanical speedo reads faster than it should, remove the 90 degree unit and co...
