Winch Conversion?
I have a Warn 9000 12V a local guy is looking to sell for some cash. Does it make sense to pick this up and convert it to 24V if I can get a good deal? - Buzz

Flasher Diagnosis
The ground problem makes sense. I'll take another run at this tomorrow. Anyone got any idea what those resisters are for? - Buzz

Flasher diagnosis
My truck was rewired for halogen headlights by the prior owner. So I have some motorcycle globes for the headlights and turn signals in the top of the yellow marker lights. There is resister lead wired into the side terminal on the blinker socket in the same place as the lead that comes in from the ...

Clutch Problem
The clutch is replaced and working fine. My buddy Dave came over last Sunday and we got it back together in a couple hours. The throwout bearing was really badly worn. The clutch disc was without any lining material and the pressure plate was shot. It was not too difficult to do. The loan of a trans...

On those brake controllers, will they handle 24 volts or do you just wire-in one battery? - Buzz

Clutch Problem
Thanks for all the posts. On the tools, I actually own an original Swiss clutch disc centering pin. It came in a case of Swiss shop tools that I bought with my truck three years ago. The tools cost two cases of beer in addition to the cash price. With the exception of the "brake bleeding spanne...

Well, the slave is fine. On the other hand, calling all that other stuff "chips" is kind of an understatement. It looks like a coarse-haired dog exploded in there! Its a wonder it was working at all.
Definitely time for a clutch. Thanks again for the posts. - Buzz

Tire Alignment
Weight is the answer. I keep the tire chains in the tool box and a couple 6 gallon jugs of water in the bed. I built a trailer to go with it and it rides better when that is loaded too. The more weight the better. It will ride better and quieter and the tires will last longer the more wieight you gi...

Clutch Problem
The pedal feels the same or a little bit lighter (maybe). The high/low lever was the first thing I checked yesterday. The master C could be a candidate too. I will pull the inspection cover tomorrow and have a look. Too beat tonight to get into it again. I got it home from the woods today thanks to ...

I got under the truck and watched the linkage move to conclude that it was shifitng OK. All the linkage seemed right but the clutch pedal goes all the way to the floor to no avail. milesdzyn : could you elaborate on how I could tell if the slave is the problem? The truck is still out in the woods an...

Clutch Problem
Hello Gentlemen, Today I was running along a forest road when we stopped to show a guest how to drive the Pinz. When my guest said they were in gear but we were not moving I became concerned. Bottom line: when the clutch is let out, I get no response from the truck. I can shift gears all day long bu...

Brake Shoes Wiggle
Thanks for the input. That all makes sense. Funny how it has always been the right rear trailing shoe that goes first - and by a mile. I was not able to get into it today. Fathers Day for me and the shop lost the adaptor that would allow them to resurface my drums. These have been turned once alread...

Driving Noise
I too had terrible noise problems at high speeds when I first bought my truck. I wore ear plugs for a while. Like the others above, I changed the oil and used Lucas Gear Oil which helped somewhat. But what really helped was putting sound dampening material in the bed. My friend Scott gave me several...

Brake Shoes Wiggle
I am working on replacing my brake shoes on the rear axle. The shoe on the bottom on the right side has gone metal to metal while all the others were barely worn. So, while trying to figure out why that was happening, I noticed that when I pull on the shoes near the adjusting nut (with the drum off)...

Tire Wear
The shocks are new and were put on to combat the cupping. I did the alignment myself with lots of measuring and only a little cussing. My local tire dealer gave up trying when it took it in to them to align. At that time, I had lots of pull to the right which my fiddling seemed to have taken out. I ...
