Re: I hated installing the flex coupler, so heres some tips

These are great posts and having done this job, I can add only two things. 1) It's worth doing for all the improvements you get. 2) When the header studs come out with the corroded nuts attached, just get new studs and nuts. I was floored to find them reasonably priced at my local Ace hardware in th...

Re: Hub wear ring question

Just realized I never followed up on this post. I did use Loc Tite to glue the raceway down and I used Right Stuff (a gasket maker that comes from a can) in lieu of the O ring. I let the whole thing set up over night and then installed as normal. The Right Stuff sets up in place without making the r...

Re: WTB: spacer for front shock absorber for 710

Now that I look, I have one of those OEM spacers in my parts box. PM me if you still need it. I'll send it to you.

Re: WTB: spacer for front shock absorber for 710

You can use the washers as suggested above or I was able to find a nut with a larger diameter than the bolt. Works fine and cost $.15.

I'll take that as a "yes"; but, you like gaskets better.

Re: tranny oil leak....

Thanks everyone for these posts. Very helpful as I get ready to do this job too. One more question: Do I really need the base gasket or can I just use my favorite gasket making material - Right Stuff for this job? I use it for the valve covers and the wheel hubs. Unless the part is dependent on the ...

Re: Hub wear ring question

That makes perfect sense. Of course, I need to take that hub back apart to do that! Also, I think I will use Right Stuff in lieu of the O ring when I glue the raceway in place. Thanks for the reply.

Hub wear ring question

I am replacing another hub seal and noticed that the wear rings on my last two axles were so loose, they came off by hand. In the video from EI, I get the impression it would be better if they were tight against the back of the hub flange. I noticed on this repair, the O ring was worn flat and there...

Re: speedo cable/gearing

Haf-e,
Spinning the speedo with a drill is how I figured out it was the gear and not the speedo.
BTW, here in Florida, the odometer will only be read if and when I sell the truck. Which is not likely soon. Even. So, with Pinz' it's condition, more than miles, that matters most.

I hear you. At the same time, what are the odds that you violate many speed limits?
