Re: Basic Stock Brake Performance Question

Here is a photo of the inside of the Cepek wheel (this one happens to be a Land Rover 5x165.1mm) showing the interior space. I think it is possible to make the disc brake conversion work for these wheels but would require different disc and brackets than the ones used for the 16 inch wheel: Cepek Wh...

Re: DREAMMING ON OVERDRIVE

Not sure if the T-case could be moved back as described... will look next time I am out at my shop. Would be a fair amount of work I think. Another crazy idea would be to put the Hone-o-drive unit inside of the spacer between the T-case and the rear differential - its about the right length (around ...

Re: Basic Stock Brake Performance Question

Bikemkr and I originally where working together on the disc brake conversion - the issue with his truck is the Cepek wheels which, although very large internally, they are wide and with the wheel moving outward (due to the inherent design of the disc conversion) the outside edge of the wheel would s...

Thanks Per for posting.

What did they put in place of the gas tank on your passenger side? I suspect it would be a tool box? That would be a nice configuration.

Would also love to see some additional photos.

Re: Wow wow wow - very rare opportunity for someone 710k US

Just noticed a photo of one in the "rotator" in the upper left corner that looks the same but with a roof tent on it! Euro plate on it... but different roof rack as it has connections to the rain gutters.

Re: Wow wow wow - very rare opportunity for someone 710k US

I think there were several different trucks brought to the USA when they were considering offering them here. I think they also were also offering the same "deluxe" civilian model in Europe once they finished up delivering the Swiss military production around 1978 and had excess capacity o...

Re: My latest project - Disc Brakes for a 710/712

BTW - the Transit steel wheels weigh in at 34 lbs each - the Sprinter wheels are 30 lbs - my notes say that a stock Pinzgauer steel wheel weighs 26 lbs but that was with a less accurate scale and I don't have one on hand to reweigh. The same steel wheels are used on the 150, 250 and 350 versions of ...

Re: My latest project - Disc Brakes for a 710/712

Well - I finally got the time to do a full test of the Ford Transit wheels with the disc brake conversion kit. Here are some pictures of the wheels mounted on the front axle with 255/85-16 Interco Trxus tires: Pinz transit front wheel.jpg I was able to test them both on the road and in the mud - her...

Re: Officially shopping for a Volvo C303

Always thought the Mini Cooper's 3 cylinder diesel (B37 or B38) might be a great conversion motor for a 710/712 pinzgauer - and the BMW motors are built in Graz Austria too! They are very physically small (1.5 liters) but powerful (100 BHP / 162ft-lbs) and the version of the same motor is used in th...

Original Buckshot Mudders in 33x9.4-16 (not maxxis)

Just found out that old-school buckshot mudder tires in a 33.2" x 9.4" size are available again - here is a link and some pictures. https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-New-Tires-P78-16-Buckshot-Wide-Mudder-Grip-Spur-33-9-50-10-50-Mud-Stud-P78X16C-/263387539963?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10 These...

Re: So I found this in the oil pan..

So I suppose the damaged pickup screen might be due to prolonged vibration? Perhaps it happened previously as well and the mechanic didn't find the gasket(s) when it was fixed?

Re: Steering wheel restoration

I've seen good articles on restoring them from the VW bug and bus crowds. Usually involved filling chips and cracks with an epoxy or other material and then grinding it smooth and painting. Or get a new one - EI had some new steering wheels from a Unimog which were very similar at a reasonable price.

Re: Pinzgauer Engine For Sale - Yes, Really!

I think the biggest issue would be the weight - that is a heavy motor to put in a already nose heavy vehicle like a 4x4 Pinzgauer. Even with the 6x6, its a lot of weight on the front two wheels to deal with. I would find a Gwagen to stuff that engine into... less chopping required and the value woul...
