Re: Starter mount...which way is up?
The solid mount was intended for use with the gear reduction starter available from EI, which weighs significantly less than the original Bosch starter. I have had the gear reduction starter mounted on the solid mount for quite a while with no issues noted. Others may have different experiences. On ...

Re: Balancing on factory wheels
I'll second the suggestion to use balancing beads. I have them in my current 710M and used them in 3 others too. I continue to be very pleased with the results.

Please post a photo of the fuse and electrical box you're referring to. That sounds like it may be an add-on by a previous owner.

Re: Truck won't turn off?
Definitely a mystery. I suggest checking the terminal numbers molded into the back of the ignition switch and confirm that the correct wires are connected. That third red wire, left-most in your photo, has a different crimp terminal on it. Can you track where it goes? I have a few schematics and as ...

Your method of repair should work just fine. I've done that a few times myself.

Re: Brake wizard needed in Costa Rica. Maybe I'll pay your way
On one of the 710M's I bought years back, I had a similar problem with lack of braking in one circuit. It turned out that one of the Static Pressure Valves, part # 7103366220, had been installed backwards preventing the flow of brake fluid. The attached photo has the 2 valves marked with arrows. Wor...

Possibly also check the intake manifold balancing hose under the engine tin. Group 1-35, item 60 in the parts book. It maintains equal air balance between the front carb manifold and the rear carb manifold. The hose is exposed to heat from the cylinder heads and begins to degrade over time. IMG_3154...

Re: Spark plug replacement interval
I converted to the civilian ignition with Perrtronix, then to PinzSSI and have been using NGK BP6RES plugs with both. I replace them every 5000 miles since they are relatively inexpensive. They never look very worn. Hope this helps.
