As far as I remember, there are two types of idle jets. Old type and new type. Only the new ones have the o-ring. I had a bad sending unit. Quite a job to restore the original unit. But possible. worst case, plenty of options available for replacement.

Make sure all jets are clean. And carb acceleration pumps can be checked with engine stopped, with flashlight. Just make sure all four are squirting a nice stream of gas when you move the throttles to open.

I a not sure I understand the problem you all guys with extra pumps are facing. My truck always starts in 3 turns unless I let it sit for a month or more. I suspect the dosage pump may not be operating correctly.

Did you ever solve the smoke problem? I am dealing with it now. Don't know how to adjust the mixture if it is possible.
