Re: 25% tariff on imported collector vehicles & parts...?

As Scott mentioned, there is no proposed law (a bill), it's a Proclamation. So it doesn't go through the normal procedure of getting Senate and Congress to vote. It's a one-man decision whether it gets imposed. I've never appreciated such actions (no matter who took 'em), because I think reasonable ...

25% tariff on imported collector vehicles & parts...?

Read this: http://www.icontact-archive.com/5jTcF_lnvVpG0xR-n_cjBR5fMwBfPwzO?w=4 Seems somebody is threatening a tariff on collector car import vehicles and parts, in the interest of "National Security". Think this will impact Pinzgauers??? The article gives links to the govt. notification,...

Re: Opinion on SK tools?

I had a 3/8" SK socket set YEARS ago, and it seemed to work well. Unfortunately, some scrote in Appleton stole all my tools, including the SK set, so I can't give you any long-term feedback.

Re: 6x6 from hell

Uh, what the...? Fastest 6x6 ever. https://youtu.be/U6LE32UWUHU Fastest ever? Maybe. An old guy nearby had a "tree harvester" he'd built out of a surplus GM military prototype chassis. It was 6x6, 4-wheel steer, and (from what he claimed) originally had 48" tires and was powered by a...

Re: Some of my work showing on PBS next week!

You do nice work Vince. I'm still puzzled by some guy who's obviously concerned about his water supply, bitching about Obama. I would think people living there would welcome environmental regulations that protect groundwater. Coal may be nice, but it don't drink so well. I'd be curious to know who h...

Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

Mryak, Welcome to this site, and thank you for the offer. Please do! For one, I'd love to get any update on this project. I've gotten the impression that the owner has his own business that is keeping him occupied. I'm not interested in buying it. Maybe 15 years ago, but not at this time. Im just cu...

Yes. The out-of-balance driveshaft problem only occurs when moving.

Re: Scary lock-up on motorway

I once had a tranny go into 1st and 3rd as I shifted and it locked up the rear end (Econoline100 van). But this doesn't sound similar, since you can still drive it. when I tried to turn on the exit ramp, I found I could barely steer her. To me, this suggests the front differential locker is an issue...

Re: Converting Low Speed Transmission To Taller Gearing?

Quite some while back, somebody sent me a few speedos and parts to try and get one going. One was essentially complete and running, but it read very slow. IIRC, I was told it was from a Mog, but it looked exactly like a Pinz speedo. It definitely had a different gearing that others. I don't know if ...

Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

Does anyone have any current info about this truck? This guy may know something. http://www.rockymountainwesty.com/aboutus.asp Might be available cheap now, no telling. :| My guess is it's been sitting behind the shop for years now. Been about 3 years since he's visited here. Yeah, I know th...

Re: Gotta start somewhere, right?!?

If you intend to use the vehicle both off-road and on-road, make certain you buy one which meets the on-road equipment laws in your state. Over-size tires, over-height bumpers, insufficient fender coverage, altered suspension are all examples of conditions which may be non-compliant depending on whe...
