I had the same symptoms twice.

First time it was the bell-shaped washer behind the hand throttle gripping the cable, second time it was a bent throttle shaft...

Both are in your post Jim, congratulations on your quickly put-together checklist

The french website has the following docs in .pdf and .zip formats:
- parts manual,
- user manual ,
- repair manual,
All three are the Swiss army versions, in German and French.

Hi, Last time I checked EI were not able to source the custom tops anymore... I let Scott bounce on this if the situation changed (or you can be sure with just a phone call to EI). I personally purchased a custom top for my Pinz last year from Tuff River Stuff (www.tuffriverstuff.com). A bit pricey ...

Oy, please don't mix up the french-speaking Swiss with the French...

We too love to hate the French, which is made easier by a few hundred miles of common border and the same language (well, almost... the French like to pick on the french-speaking Swiss's accent)

Hi all, This looks very much like some cotton "tow" or "oakum" (both from my english-french dictionnary... let me know if it doesn't make sense here) that was supplied by the swiss army. There was alway a small stock of it in the rubberized pouch that contained the jerrycan spout...

Hi John, It boils down to how long you will drive it on the highway and how much comfort you expect from the truck (well, having test driven it you have a rough idea by now). There was a similar question some time ago about comfort in the back during *long* highway trips, and quite a few issues were...

Taking Profpinz's figures and applying a 1982 CHF/USD rate of 2.0303 (source http://fx.sauder.ubc.ca/etc/USDpages.pdf ), that gives $ 28'173 for a 710M. Using http://www.measuringworth.com/uscompare/ to compare it in today's money, we get a rather broad range: between $54,974.53 and... $123,464.39 :...

To give an example of what Psychoman mentions about Pinzes with low mileage in Europe, here is what was offered on a swiss website some days ago: a '74 710k with 25'000 km (about 16k miles if I'm correct). http://auto.fr.ricardo.ch/acheter/vehicules/autos/suv-tout-terrain/steyer-puch-pinzgauer-710k/...

I think the Sig SG 510 was the standard Swiss Army weapon at the time the Pinz was put into service. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIG_510 In the 90s they started switching to the Sig SG 550. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sig_550 That's correct about the models, but don't believe everything wiki says...

The maintenance intervals are tight indeed. I personally haven't driven my Pinz enough to reach the first service deadline yet... but I think these were established with the military users in mind with limitless manpower available to do the servicing ("that will keep them busy"), and more ...

In Europe, some products from the Miller Oil lineup are offered by Frost in UK (www.frost.co.uk).

Their "Green Gear Oil 90 - GL1" is apparently designed specifically to "exclude the EP additives which can harm yellow metals"...
