Black soot on startup only

I have been blasting black soot from the tail-pipe every time I start the engine. Engine cold starts with a few accelerator pumps or of course with the choke. Runs great with no other problems. Plugs all have light brown color with no indication of rich condition. Timing has been set to spec and vis...

Hydraulic Flex Hoses

Can someone let me know each function in order from drivers' to passenger side of the hydraulic hoses that run just under the air intake plenum to the drive-line.
(under the fan belt) I have an abrasion in the first one (drivers side) and want to know how important that one is.
Thx

Re: Pinzgauer Solid State Ignition Systems

If one were to install fuel injection at a later date, how would this system typically integrate with it? Can you extrapolate the crank position (without advance) from this sensor?

Re: MRAP 24 volt Warn winch

So far, there has been no difference in head temp reading with the winch mounted. It generally runs between 340 and 360 F depending on grade and air conditioning.

Back from powder-coat and loaded with 75' of 7/16" synthetic line. I retained the original military swivel hook.

Re: RPMs at highway speeds?

I suspect something wrong with oil temp sensor/gauge. Anyone else have such low readings?

Scott,

I dropped by on Saturday at Tower Park. I needed a little shakedown cruise. There were a few guys setting up. I'll try to get out there Friday. Should be fun.

Re: 712 Cab Hard Top

The I.D. of the hatches are 19", so you can stand on the seats and poke your body through (depending on girth of course). JIM BLACK 20 INCH ROUND BOAT ESCAPE HATCH is the brand. They claimed only 90 degrees opening but I removed the locking strut and it opened 180 degrees. You could remove the ...

The photos I posted were old and not very good. Attached is a recent photo of the compressor mounted. It just fits with the belt line of one additional pulley.

Re: Stainless Steel "Rear Exit" Mufflers in Production

I have a question for those who have run their exhaust all the way out the rear. Is there any issue with exhaust sucking back into the rear area from the low pressure created from the moving vehicle? Also. where exactly does the pipe exit the rear and at what angle.

Thanks

Re: 712M Air Conditioning

Check out pictures of the slant backed HUMVEES. Some of these kits have those brackets. If you don't have any height constraints, it could be mounted any way you have flow through it. The kits come with plenty of hose length.

Re: 712M Air Conditioning

I enclosed the condenser in a screen to avoid large chunks of stuff getting to the fans. They are sealed and can be fully submersed. Just can't have the AC on while navigating waters. I put a stainless heat shield between the condenser and the exhaust/muffler as well. BTW, the darn thing works so we...
