Ran a compression check today and adjusted the valves. 148. 142. 125 and 132 BEFORE adjusting the valves. Some variance there. I also checked and it does not have valve seals. I'm going to have to re adjust the valves. After doing what i thought was correct, the engine is much louder now. half of th...

Could problems with carbs cause significant smoke?
This smoking engine is bugging me. Its not like a smoke screen, but a good puff of dark smoke when i start it which eventually turns to a constant lighter gray smoke. I can really see it at night when the lights of the car behind me illuminate what my (and my passengers) nose already knows is there....

80% on road, 20% off road, which tires to choose?
I have read plenty of postings on tire selection and the Coopers which i thought were the ones to go for are no longer available. Can someone recommend a quiet tire for on road with better than average off road? Again, i expect more on road than off. At least 80% of my 710 will be highway driving an...

No brake lights. Creative way to replace with new switch?
Ive read the heart and knuckle ache it takes to replace the stock switch. I was thinking of using some sort of contact switch. Maybe on the bump stop at the top of the break. Basically designed so that as soon as the pedal does NOT cause the pin to make contact, the lights turn on.

Not using lead additives, what damage will it cause?
I was just reading an article on lead additive for Pinz that have the big red "X" through the sticker on the dash... more or less, it says it needs a lead additive. Good thing i read it! So what happens to the valves over time? Could this lead to the smoking im experiencing? (BIG puff at s...

bumped the upper corner of the winshield frame, bend back?
I smacked a tree limb on the absolute top passenger corner of windshield surround. It cracked the winshield in 2 places and bent back the corner about 2 inches. I was able to use my feet and press it forward enough to get the horizontal bar above the door back in and drive her home. Now that it has ...
