You could easily install 12v solenoids if you have the PinzSSI ignition. Simply wire the feed into the 12v output of the voltage converter and power the solenoids that way. The solenoids would be turned on and off with the key, just like they are now.

Perhaps you have one or more saturated floats and the fuel bowl is flooding. Not difficult to diagnose and repair.

You can verify whether or not the coil is firing by disconnect wires 1 and 2 individually. Don't do this with 3 and 4. Try to crank the engine over with a 27mm socket on the fan nut. If you can do it without the belt slipping it is tight enough. If the belt slips at all it is NOT tight enough.
