Re: pinzguar712

Jim, You might want to do a compression test if you are under 8:1 compression ratio. You should be well over 120psi/cylinder, more in the range of 130+. The 2.7L conversion gets most of it's punch from compression and Cam lobe profile. The capacity increase is actually less than 2.7L with Jim's ARIA...

Re: pinzguar712

Yes, both the ROSS and ARIAS piston options for the 2.7L
increase compression. The conversion is aimed at Torque
improvement at the low end, so Compression and Cam profile
are the biggest kickers.

Re: Fuel gauge not working

If I read your post right, the Gauge shows no reading ? So that could be a bad Gauge or a bad sending unit. To eliminate the Gauge as the bad boy, you want to directly ground the terminal on the Gauge that connects to the output of the sender to GND -- that would be right behind the dashboard. If th...

Re: Fuel gauge not working

I think what you tried was directly grounding the terminal on the gauge from
the Sending unit to ground and then saw no meter movement -- right?

Re: John Deere Hitch Receiver

There's this unit from SAV as well http://www.pinzgauer.com/showdetails.php?cat=quickorder&partno=SAV5520 IMHO a more basic mounting. I believe someone on the Forum came up with this design years ago and a few people out there have been replicating it. I have one but have had no need to use it a...

Re: 1 million pound Gwagen just sold at auction

It's the electric retractable canvas roof that really makes this a darn good deal

The meter of clearance is the headroom in the back seats :D

You don't need a lot of ground clearance for where this rig is going -- to Harret's for fancies

Re: pinzguar712

Is there a problem that you think removing the head will solve or just ready for a overhaul? If you do tear this motor down, there's a number of procedures to follow if you want it to go back together again properly. For one, keep all the parts together associated with cylinder #1, 2, 3, and 4. The ...

Yup! With you on the 60mm wear ring better choice over the 55mm.

Re: Wheel Bearing Seals

Makes darn good sense. Can you post the source and PN# for these double lipped seals.
I've got one wheel drive that will need a seal job at some point in time, may as well get
the parts and be ready.

Andre, OK, I give! Time for a winch mount -but- not so simple, I like my Brushguard and would like you to take a look to see if it's possible to modify my guard for a 9500 Superwinch with synthetic rope. Guard hoops are wide enough but a cross bar may interfere. FYI, guard fab'd with pipe not DOM wi...

Re: Sluggish braking

But wait :? The halfi does not have two brake circuits -- right? So if the master seal is leaky, bypassing internally, there's no secondary for any back pressure under foot. So if this is your problem, simply maintaining pressure on the pedal it should leak down to the floorboard then you know it's ...

Re: Sluggish braking

One additional thought, you may have a leaking master cylinder seal. This can result in no loss in fluid but fluid bypassing the master and a resultant loss of force on the front slaves. This happened to me this past winter. It was a complete fail of the front brakes and not one drop of fluid was lo...

Re: Popping/backfiring on deceleration - need a rebuild?

What's really going on is one of two issues, predominately a rich condition leading to unburnt fuel in the exhaust system. If Ox gets in the exhaust then the telltale signs of post ignition -- popping. Elimination of the Ox in the exhaust system with tighter exhaust plumbing may eliminate the sympto...

Re: Sluggish braking

Might want to pull the drums off and give a close inspection of the shoes etc and a clean
up with Brake cleaner. Esp, if the braking was noticeably different before and after wheeling.
Eliminate the possibility of of a fluid leak or trail crud on the shoes
