Washington State

I just titled my 712 in Washington State. The Vehicle title lists it as a "Truck", no military designation. The insurance here lists it as a "collector's car".
Hope this helps.

Volvo vs Pinz

I drove two Volvos (TGB1111 and C303) prior to getting a 712 . Both were nice, but had loose steering and seemed to be made a little sloppier- like they were made for the military with a limited life span. Backs of my fat calves kept hitting the wheel well under the drivers seat, I found that uncomf...

I'm putting a bumper sticker on the back of my 712:
"My other car is a Prius!"
Since we've wandered about on engines, why has no one come up with a Japanese implant- Honda or Toyota for the Pinz. Reliable, small, acceptable emissions and good torque..?

Thanks, Dennis and everyone for the information, discussion and entertainment. I know to not do this upgrade without Jim L's advice and experience.

Think I'll just drive the 2.5 for a while and see how it does for my needs, I can always upgrade later when the funds replenish.

tank tracks for 712 rear

Has anyone given thought to adapting skid steer "over the tire" tracks to the rear pair of tires for a 712 for strictly sand, mud or snow use? Would they work if the diffs were always locked and put up with lateral forces in a turn?

I've found brand new Freightliner "Sprinter" seats on e-bay from customization shops. They are 19.5" wide, 31-33" high and 20" deep. Seat cushion is about 3-3.5" thick. They are replaced because those stock seats don't recline more than 18 degrees and are too narrow for...

2.5 to 2.7 liter conversion

Hi all: Does anyone have experience with a 2.5 to 2.7 liter conversion in a 712M? I'm considering the change, but would like to know what others have found with acceleration, top end speed, and especially driving up mountain highways (Cascades: elevation 0-4500ft). Would I notice a big difference be...

Thanks for the pic, now I understand what you sanded down. What happens if I sand a little to far?
Wish I knew how to post the pic on the forum to share!

Door Locks

Does anyone have experience with the door lock kits sold thru the various vendors? Difficult to put on? They don't look much different than a cabinet lock from Lowes (xcept for the $) in the pictures. I know it doesn't prevent theft, but I want to keep the lookie loo's out of my cab when it's parked...
