Either a Green Bay Packer fan, or blind. That's my best two guesses.

Re: Really Struggling With Split Boots
"bolted and glued loose on the axle"? Why? You install them and then glue and bolt or am I not understanding what you meant? From my experience, it was much easier to glue the seams together properly before they were stretched over the axle & lip. But then, I never had trouble sliding...

Re: Really Struggling With Split Boots
Hi Ninev, It's been a while, but from memory, I don't recall them being hard to get over the lip. I was going to ask whether you'd gotten cheap versions, but from a vendor I'd assume they are quality boots. I guess I'd try two things (in case you haven't already). First, I'd use some lubricant to he...

Re: How's this look
The backing plate on the center left wheel shows signs of a weep, the fluid looks like it's even run down onto the tire. I'd guess it's the seal in the wheel drive, so not a real big issue. Keeping an eye on the fluid level there would be wise, but you might want to address it to make sure the fluid...

Re: Would You Purchase A Brand New Air Cooled Pinz?
Hmmm, okay then. For the sake of hypothesis only, let's say these were original air cooled Pinzies; but offered with all the upgrades aforementioned: disc brakes, power steering, blueprinted 2.7 engine, safety glass, etc, etc, and the factory had stocks of each and every part needed for maintenance...

Re: Would You Purchase A Brand New Air Cooled Pinz?
You mean, "for off-road purposes"? NHTSA has already published a letter of interpretation which states that a Pinzgauer is a "Motor Vehicle" capable of operating on highways. As such, it cannot be imported into (nor manufactured in) the United States as an "off-road only&qu...

Re: 710M vibration.
Jbird, Sounds like the internal front driveshaft may be the reason. Do a search here for "balanced drive shaft". It's a somewhat over-complicated piece, and somebody re-engineered a fix. I don't recall the specifics, my truck does not have the problem, and it's more common in 710s than 712...

For what it's worth, I live nearby to Paul and have seen his vehicles. They look good, and they run awesomely. Let's just say that my vehicles are jealous. Paul's an 'old school' car guy, and he does really nice work. His care of them can best be described as fastidious. I can't imagine anybody woul...

Don't forget to check the Molex plug too. Bad connections and/or corrosion there are an easy fix.
Check the sticky here for battery charging info, if you haven't.

IMHO, no less (nor more) ridiculous than the Lambo LM-002 that you can't even get tires for anymore.

Re: OEM vs Aftermarket
What's the Mog owner suggest? I guess he wants to sell you factory parts through their shop. Probably for two reasons: 1) He wants you to be happy, and he knows the factory parts will fix your truck. He probably warrants his work. 2) If something does go wrong (parts do fail) within the warranty per...

Re: Turkish 4x4
Even if it's brand-new, you could import it, if you did it through a NHTSA-authorized importer. They'd have to petition NHTSA to determine how, and if, it could be modified to meet FMVSS. If it could, they would have to perform those modifications within the specified time period and then it would b...

Re: No rear flashers, no brake lights?
Well, IIWY, I'd start by pushing in each circuit breaker, even if they look normal. If that doesn't do it, your next step should be to break out your multimeter (or buy one if you don't have one). A decent meter can be had for $20 or so. If you know how to test for dc voltage and for continuity, you...

Does "hand cranking" it uphill with a come-along, and then bump-starting it downhill count? :DD Gotta do whatever it takes... Only Slightly Off-Topic True Story: My Uncle Leo farmed alone, and when his 1950 Ford pickup wouldn't bump-start by rolling downhill (It rarely started under it's o...
