Seatcovers.net will sell you the material to match whatever seatcovers you order. Mine was $20 a yard, and it two 2 yards to do 3 sets of seats. I had a local guy make the seats for the back, and they are MUCH more comfortable than the originals.

I bought the shocks from Expedition Imports, but I don't see them on the site anymore. Here's the company that makes them http://www.doetsch-shocks.com/ . http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad303/rmf1958/DSC03773.jpg Before installing them, I painted the shocks with the Pinzgauer spray paint that Sw...

I agree with Scott and the Professor, the rotating assembly would be thrown out of balance if you proceed as planned. The piston and rings from each cylinder should weigh the same (assembled), within a few grains of each other. Not sure what the exact recommended tolerance should be.

This weekend I worked on a front axle to replace a boot and the steering knuckle scraper ring. The front came apart much easier than the rear for some reason. I disconnected the steering rod by removing the 3 nuts that hold the arm in place, rather than separate the knuckle. I had to remove the lowe...

Try checking your ground connections first, including the battery. If there is an intermittant connection or loose connection you could have problems like this. If your ground strap is hot you have found the problem.

Was that an original style coil, the same type that came with the Pinzgauer new?

I would like the board type with 2 clips on the front. I'm sure one could be custom made if none are available.
The 712 is on EBay now, located in Tucson.

Replacement seat bottom

I've seen this type of replacement seat bottom in several Pinzgauers, including my own. Thicker than the original bottom, and covered with a different material. Has anyone ever seen these for sale anywhere? I would like one for the passenger side of my 710M to match the driver's side. My guess is th...

I honestly think that the carbs and their adjustments are beyond the scope of 90% of Pinz owners, and I'm one of those 90%. My Pinz ran like crap when I bought it in 2004, so I took it to a guy who specialized in German cars, was familiar with Zeniths, but had never seen a Pinzgauer. $75 and 45 minu...

I remove mine in April, along with all of the canvas, and store everything indoors. In November I get everything out of storage and put it back on the Pinz.
The canvas gets cleaned and oiled before I put it away. That's just the cab portion, the rear canvas has never been installed.

Run the Pinzgauer until empty, then pull the plug. I do this annually to get any contaminates and water out, plus it's an opportunity to see if the red sealer is coming off. Replace the copper o-ring and use Teflon tape when re-installing. The leak won't go away on it's own.

Here's some simple common sense advice, something I should have done myself, and that is to have a set of new valve cover gaskets on hand BEFORE you set the valves. This way, when you mess up a gasket like I did today, you don't turn the Pinzgauer into a Corvair, the legendary air-cooled road oiler....

The covers I bought were $59. David took his Pinz seats over for measurement after I bought mine. Had I waited another week or two I could have ordered the custom fit version for $148.

Universal fit is $59 (pair), a custom fit cost more at $148. That's about $44 more per seat. You have your choice of material no matter what.
