Loss of Power: 710K

I have a significant loss of power that developed rather quickly (w/i 2 to 3 days). It feels like it is running on 75% of availalble cylinders. I also have alot of backfiring in between shifts. Exhaust smells pretty gasoline-ish - not overpowering, but I think it smells like there is some unburnt ga...

Quick update: the rad. clamp that I installed to correct the meandering turn signal stalk is working just fine after a couple hundred kliks on the odometer. Firmly attached and stable.

Thanks again!

All good suggestions. I forgot that I tried to tackle this (albeit half-hearted) awhile back and found that my screw heads were rounded which did not allow me to get the fasteners tight enough to hold the collar in place. I went to my local True Value last evening to look for replacements fasteners....

Turn Signal collar is loose

I did a search and could not find this problem (I suspect is very common). The collar that fits around the steering column, just below the steering wheel, that holds the turn signal stalk, is loose. I have to hold the collar in order to flip the turn signal stalk up or down.

Any fixes?

Thanks! :)

I capped off the gas heater line and will see what happens as I venture below 1/2 tank  . Fuel flow already looks better while the Pinz is idling. You can see the gas heater hose capped off in the background. Thanks again. :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/mockingbird812/Pinzgauer/P11...

Mark/Ken, You may be on to something. I do have a gas heater and I did replace the one short fuel line (rubber) that is at the heater between the plastic white fuel line and the fuel tube coming out of the gas heater. it is about 4 " long and I noticed it was weeping at the heater side. I repla...

So are the symptoms I described i.e. spitting of fuel into the fuel filter when the throttle was increased, indicative of a pin hole in my pick up tube.

Jim - good to know that they are repairable.

Thanks!!

Update: :? I checked all lines on the suction side of the fuel pump. I decided to replace all rubber fuel lines as I noticed some cracking and lack of flexibility. I took the rubber hose that fits to the pick up fuel line that goes into the gas tank and hooked up my vacuum pump. I had about 3 gallon...

Thanks for the input. Ken Anderson sent me some very detailed instructions and photos of the tank removal process (if needed). I have noticed a weeping leak where my supply "tube" connects at my gas heater. I tried tightening the clamp, but the leak is still present. BTW, is this narrow, w...

Jim, The sender is out and yes I can see what i think is my pick up tube (slanting from the top front of the tank to the bottom back of the tank) but I can not reach it or work on it thru that small access hole (sending unit hole). Do I need to drop my tank to gain access to the pick up tube to anal...

Jim, I have a 710K and can't seem to find the 4-screw access panel you refer to. Is the access panel accessed from the rear seating area or the front. I removed the small dog house over the gasoline fill tube are but do not see the sending unit.

Thanks,
