Re: 2017 MOGFEST Calico, Oct 13-15

Mogfest was a hoot! No carnage on the relatively easy trail run on Saturday which was appr...

Re: engine cranks for a long time before starting

but she takes a while to start..... How long between starts does this happen? If you only attempt to start it every week or two then I would suggest that the carb bowls have dried up and are not getting refilled in a timely manner (priming issues due to air leaks, or a pump issue). If this happens ...

Re: PinzSSI Install issues

Many 24 to 12V converters will benefit from some additional capacitance added to the output (~2,000 uf is a reasonable value) to ensure that the converter can supply the surges of current that the SSI needs. However, some converters won't start up properly if too much extra capacitance is added. As ...

Re: Sluggish braking

Fluid shot out after removing the switch. If the rod was out of adjustment and won't let the piston release all the way, the port to the reservoir would be blocked (opens only when the piston releases all the way). This would prevent any release pressure from venting back into the reservoir, and pr...

Re: Front diff harmonics

Check if the "pulses" happen at wheel rpm; an out of round or bent wheel will load and unload the drive train as its radius changes.

Re: Electric 1972 Pinzgauer 710M Build Thread

I was talking with EV West yesterday; they have been very busy with real, paying work so the Pinz has sat patiently awaiting its turn. I was told that the goal was to take it (completed) to King of the Hammers in early February. We'll see if that becomes a reality.

Re: Electric Pinzgauer ?

Electric conversion is easy; it is the conversion in people's minds from essentially unlimited range with a 5 minute fill-up (with liquid fuel) to the more limited range and much longer recharge times for most battery systems and chargers that is the hard part. Yes, things are improving, but not fas...

Too often we seem to forget these are an old school (gun) tractors with no emission controls or computer modules. They cough, spit and fart as the beasts they are  and should not be compared to, or attempt to be tamed into, the docile, domesticated, urbanized pets modern vehicles have beco...
