Re: AMB-S Box cutouts for windows, etc.

Thanks for your in depth info on the box project. I wish I would have thought about the pick up bed cover as a source for cheap windows as I have been scouring through marine surplus shops and Craigs list (used RV windows). I ended up finding a NOS set of HD aluminum framed marine windows for a mili...

AMB-S Box upgrades

I am planning to start turning my Ambulance box into a usable camper that is comfortable for the family members to ride in the back. I am putting a RV bench seat that folds flat into a bed towards the front of the box and will be adding a rooftop vent and side windows that I recently purchased. Does...

Re: Winch Info

What do you tie off to in Florida? Perhaps save a few pounds by using a pulley and doubling the line to increase pulling power, that way use a lighter winch. Maybe stronger front springs? I put a tubular bumper from EI and a 9500 lb winch and my springs went down 3/4''. Not a problem as the pinz ha...

Winch Info

I have a Warn 24v Severe Duty 18k Winch that I am considering mounting on my 712 AMB-S. It weighs in a 175lbs as it is currently set up with 1/2"x75' EIPS (steel cable) and roller fairhead. I am afraid that it may be too much weight hanging off the front of the vehicle (front end sag) especiall...

Winch for a 712

I have a new 24v Warn Severe Duty 18k winch with 1/2''x75' EIPS Steel cable. It wears 175+ lbs. I am considering putting in on my 712 but think it is a little heavy and probably overkill. I would rather use it than try to sell it, buy a smaller model and lose money along the way. The rule-of-thumb m...

Re: New Member Intro

I have driven my 712 (with stock engine, tranny, and Maloyas!) almost from coast to coast at 58-62 mph (when possible). This doesn't mean that you should, only that I have done it and not had any problems. I don't know that I'd want to go much faster than that for the sake of the RPMs. It probably ...

Re: New Member Intro

50 seems to be a comfortable speed in it. I assume extended periods of travel at 50 is not an issue in regards to longevity of the drivetrain?
Thanks gor the comments.

Re: New Member Intro

Speed demon!...the most I've pushed my Pinz is 45. I get scared of it exploding or something beyond that speed. Never thought of myself as a speed demon, just trying keep me and the Pinz safe grom being run over on these Florida roads...... and I dont even mean highways that have a 70 mph speed lim...

Re: New Member Intro

Newbie Question, I am not sure of the accuracy of my VDO tach (seems to jump around alot at highway speed even though MPH and engine sound does not change). My 712 is currently running a set of new Telstar/Laramie Trailcutter Radial R/Ts in LT255/85R16 (33.1x10/16) or about 1" taller than stock...

Re: Found new way of checking all components under my pinz

It all happened so quick, I clipped the embankment and she went over! Glad no one was hurt. I think it says alot about the vehicle that you were able to just "right it" and drive it away. What tires (model and size) are you running... Thx They are 33" super swamper boggers Are they t...

Mopar, here is a pic of the MTV that I found on a recent trip. It was a 1995 model that was sold last year on GL. Obviously this is the Medium version of the Light/Medium Tactical Vehicles. Nice condition.

Re: New Member Intro

They have Mastercraft tags in them. I remember seeing an ad for the seats in the "Green Book" that AUSA publishes each year, I will have to dig it out and post the specs. They are very nice seats with full harnesses, great support and cushioning. I think the deletion of the spacers and the...

Re: New Member Intro

If LMTV seats fit, it would be kind of cool and a bit ironic since the LMTV is a truck design licensed from Steyr. Very cool.... I did not know they were licensed from Steyr. For those that asked what an LMTV is, here is a little info on the platform: The Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) i...

Re: New Member Intro

Just from a casual glance, those seats seem like you'd be sitting pretty high. Do they fit in the passenger side as well? Thanks for the pix. The seat is just sitting with its fastening studs on the floorpan. I also need to take the spacers off of the frame (I guess it needed more height for the LM...

Re: New Member Intro

More importantly, what makes you think there's room for those? A number of us have successfully installed seats from a M-B Sprinter. Depending on your height, they may be an option for you to consider. I will look at the Sprinter syle seat, although I like to keep military things "military&quo...
