Re: Fan belt nut seized??

In spit of the direction of the fan, this is a Right-Hand thread. I presume you are unscrewing this in the left hand direction -- normal direction. You may also want to invest in the fan locker tool, if you don't have that get one and keep it in your Truck tool box.. Fits in two holes on the fan hou...

Re: VDO Electronic Speedo

In a way I wish I had looked further and thought about a Speedhut Speedo rather than just replacing the VDO. I like the looks of the VDO and when it works no complaints, I just think there's a quality problem here they have not addressed so I may be on borrowed time again, hopefully I go more than 6...

Re: VDO Electronic Speedo

Ya, the LCD seems to be the weak underbelly with these gauges. Having ripped apart the old one (and that was not easy as the brass rim on these are crimped on), the LCD is mounted on a separate bezel and has a very tiny connector to the main housing. All looked to be in good conduction. I was hoping...

Re: VDO Electronic Speedo

How is it behaving? Is the LCD flaking out or is the miles/hour needle the problem.
Based on some Google'n I have done, I have seen a few complaints about the LCD,
some have noted that damp wet days seem to effect the LCD.

Re: VDO Electronic Speedo

Well you did better than me! The one I just replaced lasted only 6 years and clocked only 24,600 miles :( I have it completely gutted on the bench, was hoping to replace the LCD but it's pretty clear this was a build for purpose LCD and not a standard. Frankly, I'd expect more from VDO. BTW, if your...

VDO Electronic Speedo

Just had to replace my VDO eSpeedo due to a very temperamental LCD display. Need a trustworthy Odometer on the trail, not to mention to know when to change the oil. Although it is easy to program a new one using mile markers, I wanted to pre-set the new one with the old setting which has proven to b...

Re: Fan belt won't tighten

It's a Steyr unique part, if you got it from EI or SAV it's going to be cut correctly.
Get a caliper on the threads to make sure you didn't loose diameter on that shaft.

Ya! Metric, still a novelty here in the USofA

Re: Fan belt won't tighten

This may be more due to someone over torquing the fan nut than corrosion. A not so common mistake but a mistake is to confuse the torque spec for the Main pulley for the fan nut -- yikes that's a lot of torque! The fan nut is a standard right hand thread but the fan rotates CW direction -- to loosen...

Re: Magnetic drain plug- first drain. "Dimple"

Will do! But won't be till my next Oil change

I can "match" one up with a spare plug I have. But it's
not the tread to worry about, it's more the seating area
that could be different. I'll caliper the heck out of one when I get it.

Re: Fridge/Freezer mount

Ya, well then I'd have two bad boys in the back drink'n up all my cold beer :P Although I did cut this so it is symmetrical and would fit in any of the three seat positions, my darn Monaco seats are so wide you can't fit the Fridge in between. Might work with the (uncomfortable) stock Seats though. ...

Fridge/Freezer mount

A couple of years ago I bought a 37 quart ARB Fridge, very happy with this unit. But it's been a PITA to store in a 710K with the shelves and my particular rear configuration (with a +12V Aux battery box just behind the Tool box. Given a couple of days off this week, some bits of Aluminum, I have fi...

Re: Magnetic drain plug- first drain. "Dimple"

Great find Vince, as Jim pointed out the magnetic "reach" of the rare earth magnetic is way beyond the stock Pinz magnets. The other positive is you get a Plug with a magnet that is HEX rather than the Allen head, I have converted all my upper and control plugs with HEX leaving only the dr...

Re: left and right hand front bumpers

If you have a cache of Pinz parts list them all  I would also recommend you comp the prices at SAV and EI before you post here. Brand spanking new out of the box is not much more than what you are asking for a used pair of Bumpers. Used at SAV is $75 and if you call Sahara I'm better they woul...

Re: LED headlights

A peek under the sheets hmmm, dono Vince :P I need to take a shot of that in the dark. But scroll backward to GadgetPhreaks posting, he did the upgrade before me. I thought that was a bold move on his part, first these are mucho EXPENSIVE, second could be a door stop if it didn't fit in the bucket. ...

Re: LED headlights

Looks like they just jumped their prices up to match the other guys, e.g Summit Racing, etc. Must be that Halo effect  That link was $600 when I posted! I still have the invoice at that price for the same exact part number. I guess I should consider myself lucky. At $800 a pair makes T...
