Re: New member and soon to be Pinz owner (hopefully)
There is also the option of buying a 712 M and an additional ambulance box that you can put on or take off depending on your need at the time. SAV usually has the Ambi boxes for around $800. Last time I was there, they had a few, since lot's of guys bought Ambulances that really wanted an M, so they...

Re: How far do people routinely drive their Pinzgauers?
I drive about 250 miles round trip to my favorite camping locations in the Ozark mountains and I really like wearing hearing protection. More than anything, it just takes getting used to not being in a hurry to get there, especially since I don't do interstates, just the back highways. The Pinz alwa...

Swiss Army Land Rover Defender
I like to check and see what new vehicles Willy at SAV has available, and was somewhat surprised to see that they currently have one of the two prototype Defenders built for evaluation by the Swiss Army! I figured a lot of folks on here would be interested in it, so I figured I'd share the link. htt...

Oh yeah, I love Corrosion X products; I use them on guns and they are great!

Re: Best off road GPS
I use an old laptop and a USB GlobalSat GPS while I run Maptech Terrain Navigator (MyTopo) USGS topo map software. I find my method to be perfect for many reasons. First is that I have the actual GPS antenna mounted on the roof antenna mount for best signal, second is that since I just use an old ch...

Re: Finally got a 3D model of the C303
That's interesting since my brother is actually in the credits of that game as a 3d modeler; he designed the models for a lot of the guns in that game. At the time, I believe he was the only American working for them on that project.

I can't comment on any of the stuff involving traveling by land, but I just went through the canal less than two weeks ago and at least I can attest that the weather is nice and warm; it was at least 95 or so.

Re: importing a vehicle
I have worked aboard car-carrier Ro-Ro ships on the Northern Europe run and I suggest that if you go that route, post detailed instructions in the cab on how to operate and drive the vehicle. If the longshoremen can't figure out how to release a parking brake, they drive it with it engaged; if they ...

Re: Facing reamer to resurface crush washer seal surfaces?
I would try a metal filled epoxy or JB-weld, then smooth it nicely with emery cloth and spray both the washer and surface with copper spray-a-gasket. I had a similar issue and the spray-a-gasket alone fixed it.

Re: Good news, bad news - soft top 710M
I think it may have been so cheap because if I recall, she already had the clear vinyl from having done bimini tops for boats. For the modified rear flap over the rear doors, I ordered a new divider flap from a Deuce and gave it to her to cut up and use. The color match isn't that good, but it's not...

Re: Good news, bad news - soft top 710M
I would look around for a canvas repair person before I would go all out and buy a new top. My top is old and tired, but it keeps the rain out and my canvas lady only charged me $110 IIRC for all new windows all around and an extended flap to cover my Rapier Barn doors. Her work was flawless and ine...

Re: Locker engagement/release question
Sometimes my rear lockers stick engaged, so I just vary the RPM or come to a complete stop; if that doesn't work, putting it in reverse always disengages them almost immediately. At times my levers get stiff, but I've learned how to forcefully finesse them down and I don't have a problem, but I imag...

Re: finally getting around an introducion
I just noticed how it has a K rear door on the driver's side, but M style body panels on the passenger side. It's the first time I've seen an M/K hybrid like that; pretty cool. Thanks for posting pics!
