VDO Tach jumping around

Okay, weird thing happened today. I took the pinz out to set up a water catchment tank about 100 miles from my house. Going everything was very normal, did my work, took a few hours, the old girl did very good. I filled up with some gas (fresh) and headed home. Went about 50 miles and stopped to top...

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuild?

I ended up pulling the pump, opening everything up and cleaning everything, plus I did the JB trick on the brass intake/outlet, just to be safe. Put it back together and it all seems fine for now. I did order a replacement, SAV was running a special on NOS pumps, didn't cost much more than a VW one,...

Re: Carbon fouling my carbs?

I was thinking timing as well.

What about a weak intake valve spring or possibly wearing valve seats...

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuild?

I have read a lot on this issue and rebuilding or replacing seems like the best idea. I wanted to start simple with the hoses and see what happened after that. I had the thought of check valves, but restricting a 5mm hose anymore seems like a bad idea. Still hard to believe that is the correct size ...

Re: Throttle linkage failure

No pin, mine threaded onto the rod and I don't see how they would come off, that and a little locktite never hurts.

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuild?

I did not use metric, 5/16 and 3/16. I figured they were close enough, the 3/16 is smaller than 5mm so should not be an issue... Should...

Do the VW pumps have check valves? Might be easier to swap out for one of those and rebuild another time.

Fuel Pump Rebuild?

Hello all. Been dealing with the standard "the truck is hard to start after sitting" issue and when doing some research on this site, I came across some information that said if the pump's internal check valves are working properly, you should not have much of an issue. I replaced all the ...

Re: Throttle linkage failure

Just replaced mine with the Unimog steel ones, as preventative measure. Very easy to do, and totally worth the $$ involved, which is not much.

Re: Looking for seat frames 710M

Yeah, I would like to try new seats, but don't want to mess up the stock ones I have now and not sure how I feel about buying new to chop up. With the price of the frames, I think I may try and fabricate some myself. PC, i'll pm you for more details. Oh, and the guy on the SW forum was selling the c...

Looking for seat frames 710M

Wanting to do an upgrade to my seats and need some spare frames to work on. Looking for both driver and passenger frames. Don't have to be pretty or functional as I only need the lower frames.

Just a thought to see what's out there.

Thanks

Re: Seats...Again

Way to go (slow clap...) Another freaking mod I have to add to the list. Really nice job, those seats are nice, hell, your whole truck is nice. inspiring me to clean up mine a bit! If I understood from the pictures, you basically cut off the back of the existing seat frame and welded up the crossbar...

Re: Will MT-90 help cold weather shifting?

Worth every penny.

Been using it for years in my bikes, glad I can use it in the Pinz. Only downside is you generally can't pick it up locally in a store, so a little planning ahead is needed.
