Re: Body repair - rust removed, advice needed

Gday Mick, You really need to take the door off along with the hinge and keep cutting, a fair bit more material needs to come out in all directions if your gonna have any chance of welding it and to stop the rust coming straight back. You need to take it back until the metal your cutting out isn't r...

Re: Power Steering

Have a look at chosenview's blog, he has put a link to it from one of his posts. He is going the gwagen route as seen on terringbil. IMO this is the best option and I will be doing this on my Volvo also. I have this G steering box in my pinz and find it to be a really nice box with a ratio is perfec...

Re: front wheel drive stuck

Check that both wires of the front axle engage solenoid are connected, it should be located behind the passengers seat area. On mine (cab over, no body) its on the outside of the cabin behind said seat, I had one of these wires come disconnected during the washing process required by our quarantine ...

Re: Ian's TGB13 6x6 (Australia)

Also it should be easy enough to plumb up the rearmost cross member for the second vac tank/diff lock operation. Just braze the old fitting on and extend the lines, this way the system is still in keeping with how Volvo designed it volume wise etc. But I do agree that it should work OK from the one ...

Re: Ian's TGB13 6x6 (Australia)

Hi Ian, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have do something with the pesky middle crossmember, I mistook one of the photos on the last page as your build and from that I thought you were a little further along with the engine/trans in position...my mistake. It would be nice if you make yours fit. I've ju...

Re: rims and tires

Ian,

I meant to ask in my previous post, what is the width of the 2015 transit rims?

Re: rims and tires

They look really good!
Much better than having to modify for wheel nuts as I did.

I like the tyres too... I enquired recently about the same tyre in that size and was told it was discontinued in 255/85/16, I better ask elsewhere.

Re: Ian's TGB13 6x6 (Australia)

Hi Ian, Have you cut the rear cross member/vac tank out and moved it rearwards? Its a little hard to tell from the current pics, do you have any more of that area? I'm curious as to what you have done or planning in this regard....as my own build slowly moves forward I realise this will be an area I...

Re: Running rich. How to "lean out?"

This might be way off but just a thought...do you buy your fuel from mostly the same petrol station or chain? I agree that sooty plugs would generally indicate a fuel issue over an oil one, prolonged idling could also cause sooty plugs. And it is odd that both your trucks have this same issue...inde...

Re: Wheel Drive Gears - for lower RPM at highway speeds

Some food for thought...the guy who did this with his Volvo used a mix of gears from the maserati bi turbo s5-18/3 variant and his 5 speed tgb20 gearbox and shafts and put it all together in the Volvo gearbox cases, he was however building a box to suit a diesel conversion. I think the shaft sizing ...
