Rivervoog, Thanks for the photo. I have actually mounted my HiLift to that vertical sheet metal section shown in the background of your photo and it allows for the seats to be in either position without having to move the jack. I'm trying to get as much weight to the very rear of the vehicle, thus m...

My opinion is to make the vehicle as useable and practical as possible for your applications and if that means "updates" that reflect newer and better technology, go for it! I just don't see these as collector items. I bought mine for me, not the next guy and I'm modifying it accordingly.

I was REALLY paying attention so that helped but it was a real eye opener as there was no way it wanted to brake in a straight line all by itself if I hadn't been wrestling it into shape.

Anyway, more weight in the rear would have to be an improvement.

Mike M. - thanks for the photos. I think my welding "guru" and I like what you did with the swing away rear rack with your spare and the jerry cans. If you can PM me a few more photos (when it's convenient), I would really appreciate it. Speaking of rear ends (?!) I was taking the kids to ...

How about providing them with a copy of that original Car & Driver review of the Pinz that appeared back in the late 70s or early 80s?

I presume someone could pfd that for you.

Looking for examples of custom mods for the rear of a Pinz

I posed the question in a previous post about the merits of adding weight to the rear of a Pinz so that it was a bit more stable under braking...particularly on wet pavement. One of the things I'm considering is fabricating one or several new racks or enclosures for the rear of my 710M that might ho...

seatbelts

I went to www.seatbeltsplus.com and ordered 4 belts (friction type) in military green with all mountng hardware included for like $100 including shipping. I used existing holes for mounting them and they have worked out very well for us.

My first reaction is that the skills that the operator must possess have to be extraordinary. On second thought, probably any 13 year old Xbox 360 "master" could probably figure it out in an afternoon. Pretty cool machine and perhaps a tool that causes a much lower impact on the environment.

It sounds like you've gotten great advice from everyone here and Dennis will be handling the service items you need for your new Pinz. I can't over emphasis the need for headphones. I did a heli-skiing trip in the Bugaboos last year this time and I remember that the helicopter (Bell 212)and my 710M ...

Dumb (probably) question about jump starting a Pinzgauer

Amongst the emergency provision I keep in my Pinz is a set of jumper cables. It's never been a problem in the past but I was wondering whether I'm going to blow something up if I ever do find myself needing a jump start? The presumption is that the other vehicle has a 12V system... The second part o...

He's still around but he has closed his shop as he had an opportunity to make more money with a "real" job. I suspect he can still have these fabricated if there's interest.

overhead console

Robert Crow (www.ultimate4x4.com) here in Houston had made an overhead set up out of aluminum that's pretty cool. Drop him an email and see if he still makes them.
