Too hot to start?
Hello all!
Recently when I go on a medium length drive (figure...20-30 minutes), once i get there, i can't restart my pinz unless I let it sit for around an hour..... OR hose down the bell on the engine. I recently installed 2 airhorns in the intake area, but they are behind the winch anyway...... could it just be because its 100+ out here? Or do I need to figure something else out?

?? I'm not sure what you're referring to. The bell-housing?OR hose down the bell on the engine.
Pinzes are commonly used in hot climates, so it should be capable of running in 100+ heat I'd think. It's hard to predict how much you've restricted airflow with those horns, and of course it is air-cooled. Perhaps you could remove the horns and test it?

Ck spark w/hot. Seen coils act up this way.

I also think it could be electrical coil maybe or something that's not working properly (electric) and heating up. Should be easy to find sence there not to many electric components. I have my winch lights an horn blocking my grill so I don't think it could be that

In my experience, all Pinzgauers are sluggish with hot starts.

Its fuel injected, if that gives any more ideas?

What system are you running? Can you post up a picture? It is posible the fuel temp comps may need adjusting or a sensor is affected by the heat.

I have no idea what it is..... I know before the previous owner it came out of Georgia, where I was told it was a prototype vehicle for the fuel system. Does that narrow it down at all? I'll try to check when I can make it outside without heatstroke.

Check the voltage to the fuel pump. Fuel pump maybee getting hot. think you have resistors? i didn't have any luck running resistors. ended up installing a voltage reducer.

If the system is rigged to run off 24v using dropdown resistors then do as Erik suggests, install a voltage converter and wire the system to it.
You will need at least a 40 amp 24v relay(I use 70Amp on my conversions) and use the original coil power wire(white) to trip the relay(relay terminal 85, term 86 to ground). 24v feed wire from batt to relay terminal #30, term 87 to power supply 24v input.

I still need to check on this stuff- I haven't had much time. I needed to move the Pinz today though and it had been parked in the sun all day- 3-4 of my breakers were popped and wouldn't ...unpop... until it had been parked in the shade for a while. Not the first time its happened when it was very hot & in the sun. Could this be a sign its electrical? Or is that kind of normal?.... Its always the #5, and the others are normally 7, 9 and 12...I think.

i had a hot start problem ... turned out to be a bad/weak coil. replaced it and it's been fine ever since.
I've never heard of breakers popping because of the outside temperature. that doesn't sound right ...
