One of my 1973 Pinzgauer 710 carburetors (the rear one) is approaching the end of it's usable life and can no longer be tuned/calibrated properly. The shaft on the bottom half of the carburetor that connects to the accelerator linkage is so loose it leaks gas and sucks air, which makes it idle way too fast. I've looked around and both Swiss Army Vehicles and Expedition imports have replacement carburetors. However, I've been unable to locate just the lower/defective assembly, which contains the shaft and butterflies.
My question: should I just replace the whole carburetor, or does anyone know of a source for a good/working bottom half of the carburetor?
Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Scott

Re: 1973 Pinz 710 Carb problem...
I suggest that you check with Jim LaGuardia here: http://www.goatwerks.com
He has rebuilt and adjusted a number of carbs for me and I've always been happy with the results.
The throttle body is available from SAV, item #01-40-73, part #7121085559 and probably available from Scott at EI also.

The entire carburetor with a new throttle body can be purchased for $668, but it doesn't come with jets. Just use your olds ones.

If you want to sell your old throttle body please send a PM.

As Paul said, SAV has 'em as part # 73. Here's the link: http://www.pinzgauer.com/parts.php?cat= ... view=01-40
It says 'in stock' at $395.
From vague memory, I thought someone sold an oversized throttle shaft, which required reaming the holes oversized to fit, thus solving the slop problem. Damned if I can find any record of this though. Maybe I'm still dreaming, it's early here.

Re: 1973 Pinz 710 Carb problem...
the oversized shaft has a diameter of 8,3 mm and is listed as item 4 here http://www.puch.at/en/spare-parts/pinzg ... e-chamber/
the oversized shaft has the spare part # 7121085226 ; the difference of both #4 shafts is only explained on the german page
Scott should be able to sell that part
don't forget the seals for the shaft; item #5 on the same page, part nr 7121085401
