<t>Hey All...….…
First and foremost...So glad to not only own a Pinzgauer, but so glad this forum exists as well.

Quick question to those in the know.

My truck had an electric fuel pump in it when I got it. I could tell a long a story at this point, but the short of the matter at hand is this:

I want to remove the manual pump and block off the port it sets on.

I pulled the pump. Push rod was not present.

Any valid reason to keep this non-functional pump on the truck?

A flat piece of stock and this port can be blocked is my opinion. Sage advice is what I seek.

Thanks</t>

I don't know if I have sage advice or not but I do recall that others who have switched to an electric fuel pump did in fact fabricate a block-off plate. Don't forget the gasket.

I have been running an electric pump for years. I chose to keep the manual pump and carry a rebuild kit for it as a back up. I have a 24" prefer of fuel hose connected to the inlet and outlet that I filled with fuel to keep things wet. Never had to use the rebuild kit for myself but have rebuild s few manual pumps in the trail.

VW parts sites have a block off plate that will work, get the one for the older air-cooled engines. Try the Samba site, I think they have it. They also sell a turn-signal switch that works perfectly, order the one for a '71 bus.

The switch is good to know

Thanks for all the replies concerning the fuel pump block off plate.

The VW parts source is not something I would have thought of. Did a little searching and found two different plates that look like they would work just fine. One for $6 and another made of billet aluminum for $13.

Going with the billet. A little hidden bling.

I'll follow up once I receive it and let everyone know if it fits correctly.
