coming out of storage, dry carbs, no start

My truck has been in unintentional storage for a while and I am in the process of lighting everything back up.

Apparently the carbs bowls are dry as cranking a bit does not result in a start.

Any tips on getting to start (short of inverting the truck to fill the bowls)? I am reluctant to over crank the starter, observing reasonable on/off periods, but a 5 minute session did not result in even a stumble.

Thanks for tips.

I seem to recall a thread on this forum that mentioned pouring a small amount of gas down through the mesh fittings in the center of each carb. Perhaps 1 ounce each ? I remember doing this once but it was years ago so details are fuzzy but it did result in the engine starting. IIRC, the mesh fitting led down to the bowls.

Thanks as always Paul.

I was taking time going around airing tires and letting the starter cool off.

It just started up once the old mechanical pump filled the bowls up.

Runs like a champ now.

FWIW, You could use starting fluid sprayed into the intake, until the fuel catches up
