Crank pulley seal

Post by DGRDurham »

I’ve searched this forum before I tackle replacing the pulley seal, and also have the manual from SAV. Removal looks fairly straightforward. My question is what is the best way to lock up the engine during reassembly to torque the pulley back on? Haven’t been able to find that answer anywhere. Thanks.

The hardest part of the job can be getting the pulley back on.
Seems like that should be the easiest part but if the pulley is a tight fit,
and even preheated, as you slip it on, the crankshaft does a darn good
job heat sinking that heat out and stopping cold on the shaft.

If you run into that problem, and some don't, first make sure the
Woodruff key and Pulley slot is perfectly aligned, have a longer M20x1.5mm
bolt on hand to use to pull the Pulley in place -- that should do it.

As far as torquing once seated, put your tranie in 5'th and block your tires.
That should be sufficient, it was for me.
