710 Cylinder fin rust

Ive got the engine out of my 710, cleaning it up and installing Jim Laguardia's cam. I've taken most everything apart at this point just to give it a thorough cleaning, even though it doesnt need a rebuild. The cylinder fins have some surface rust....does anyone have any advice on cleaning/rust prevention? I'm tempted to soda blast the exterior and give them a dusting of paint, but interested if there are other opinions out there.

Thanks in advance.

They rust, no big deal. The bigger problem is trapped debris
e.g. caked on oily dirt, mouse nesting crap. Just get a small
diameter wire brush in there and get any loose stuff out.

Incidentally, and Jim may have mentioned this already....
When it comes time to install the Cam Housing, 9 out of 10
times you will find the gasket won't fit over the studs without
tearing -- they shrink. Get a water mister and mist both side
of the gasket -- like magic it will restore to it's proper size.
I use sealant on the Engine side ONLY, as it's a two part block.

I've always used another method for keeping the gaskets in place. I use Permatex aircraft gasket sealant (I forget the number) to hold the gasket in place. The sealant never really completely hardens, and it will fill any micro-scratches or flaws for a good seal. If you ever go to remove the gaskets, they peal right up like they were just put on.
