popping noise

Post by ziegler »

I'm getting popping sounds and hesitation while accelerating for a few miles when I drive the truck, then it slowly goes away, does anyone have any idea what's causing this.

Curious to what type of ignition you are using? As this could be timing related. Also, is your 4500 limiter still original, or have you jumped that (taken it out of commission?)

It may have developed a lean mixture from a vacuum leak. If the condition goes away with a bit of choke applied…start searching vacuumed leaks.

agree with Andre. Sounds like a general tune up might fix the issue. New plugs, check dizzy, check vacuum hoses, balance carbs, be sure throttle bodies are tight to carbs. The only PIA would be a vacuum leak in that tube underneath the carbs. The rest are all easy to get to and check.
