Strange smells

Post by audiocontr »

I've noticed a couple of unusual smells lately in my Pinz. One, smells almost like (and forgive me for the reference, its the best I have) those little ash snakes; The fireworks that you light and the grow into long black ash snakes/worms. Its a burnt smell. Is it possible that such a smell could occur from too much oil? I have about a quart too much in there right now, in what I guess was a misread of the dipstick. Found the white foam buildup on the oil cap if thats of any significance.

The second smells like brake fluid, and yes, it smells that way when I shift, yet I cant find any significant loss of brake fluid. Is it possible to have a small hydrolic leak thats burnt up when you engage the clutch?

Any ideas?

Look at the clutch master and vac booster. The fluid runs down the pedal assembly to the floorboard when the seals go bad.
