engine is supposed to idle 850-950 RPM, 650 is too low and a large part of your hesitation.

Thanks for the tip Jim. I just made the adjustment and it did remove the majority of the hesitation.
Also have a willing souls coming from the throttle body. I am just running a K&N style filter and am hoping once I modify the original it will muffle that sound.

There was a time, as I recall, that Dennis Williams of LinDen Engineering suggested that the K&N filter wasn't a good choice for the Pinz. I have not taken the time to search the archives for his posting, but it may be worth your time to try to verify what I am saying...

I can verify it as it is in the Pinzgauer technical (old) section.
Jake Raby's tests showed that the k&n filter by itself actually lowered HP and or torque but if you changed the stock exhaust to a higher flow then it did add some power. His logic of more out allows more in therefore a slight bump in power was confirmed.
I will try to find it but I read it about a week ago.

Here is just some of the info: viewtopic.php?p=21100#p21100

On his video he mentions it also. I just wanted to run it for awhile before making perminate changes to the stock air cleaner.
Drove it 200 miles this weekend 90 mi each way to a lake.
10 people in the truck and she ran great. Still a bit of hesitation at take off.

Would you be willing to post the video you got with the kit? Curious to see it.

Sound like install went good, so what are the benefits as you see it? Any more power? Not having to rebuild or tune carbs? dependability?

I am interested in this too as some have said it is hard to beat what SDP put together and that messing with EFI is much harder than old mechanical carbs. I read that for most benefits EFI should go with a motor with larger displacement??
Interested in what you think (so far) of your new kit!
Thx,
Dan

First I can't post the video up it has a big warning to not duplicate share ect at the beginning.
So far benefits on my 2.5 include:
More hp
More tork
Lower Head temps
Auto choke
1-2 mpg increase
No points, rotor or cap to replace.
Down falls:
Kinda Expensive
Takes a fair amount of time to install

Is this just what you expect or is it something you can feel? I know these aren't dyno machines so no number etc but just asking for a seat of your pants feeling(butt dyno as they call on the interweb)

It is still very cool and with not have to rebuild the carbs over the course of many years of ownership it will probably pay for itself with the crappy ethanol gas that wrecks carb in no time

Hp and tork can only be estimated. I did drive it fully loaded this weekend and noticed an increase of speed available and holding of speed going up the long hills.

Did you consider replacing the cam as well as LaGuardia suggests?

Considered it yes but until I go to a 2.7 figured I would wait. Plus not pulling the motor and using the magnet trick is nothing I am interested in doing anytime soon.

I'm not surprised Jake has a duplication warning. As I remember, he was very protective of keeping his intellectual property private, and very serious about keeping it that way.

Given how many hours and dollars Jake has in the project, giving away would be bad business practice, since there is always the possibility that someone somewhere would be willing to pay for it.

I have my own partly assembled EFI system based on a motorcycle quad body intake manifold. I would love to know where everyone has tried to add sensors, and how successful or unsuccessful those locations were.

Hmmm...I think I should start a thread "best and worst locations for aftermarket sensors?"
