I lost R, 1st and 2nd gear.

Diffs, axles, lockers, transmissions, portals, that kind of thing.

I lost R, 1st and 2nd gear.

Post by ziegler »

Yesterday I was riding behind my house in the mountains. I had all the lockers engaged and was in low range, 3rd gear. I depressed the clutch to go into 2nd gear and it immediately felt different. I couldn't get into 1st, 2nd or reverse. I have 3, 4 and 5 only. What part/parts broke? Thank you for any imput. Mark

I believe I had a ball joint or spring failure in the shifter linkage. Group 02-30-14. Input appreciated. Thanks

I thought I had a topic on this, but it was just a comment I made in another post. Something similar happened to me, do you have a huge amount of play side to side in the shifter?

"My linkage bushings did wear out this year and failed while on a trail (about 5 years later). This caused the shifter to have very bad play in it, side to side, front to back, and you could not find any gears easily. I made it home by the skin of my teeth. This is a cheap easy swap you can do yourself."

Hopefully, it's just that.
