Front diff disassembly

Post by Jubu »

Hi this is my first post here, the french forum is down now it seems. I started (at my own pace and technical level) the overhaul of my 710k.
I noticed oil in the shafthousing behind the front diff, I had the same thing in the rear diff (with some oil on the parking breaks) and I changed bearing and oil seal in the witch hat. I'd like to do the same for the front diff but the question is where to start?? I' d like to disassemble as few parts as possible. Would someone have a suggestion on how to proceed with maybe some pictures? :D
Thanks!

Hello
I too have some leaks on these inter-deck shaft joints
it's a lot of work for a small part
I think you need to remove
-the bumper
-the front frame T
-all the steering with its linkages
-the brake system
-and remove the 4 long threaded rods that connect the axle to the center tube
this will open up the front axle and allow access to the rear.
I'm curious to see how you did it
take some photos
See you soon!

Merci!
I may not start right away, I will first drain the oil and check how bad is the leak. If I decide to do it, I'll try to share some photos.
