Rear Driveline Noise

Post by montieth »

So, my buddy's (Mvon2054) Pinz is displaying some rather dramatic noise from the back diff. The Mercedes shop it's at now is reporting one tone while under power and another tone when off throttle. Almost as if one of the bevels is shifting (badly shimmed or something else). They're not very familiar with cracking open something like a pinz driveline and we're starting to want to look at some other shop.

We're over here in the south east. What shops can anyone recommend that's out this way short of a $1000+ shipment to get it to the experts in the plains or out west?

Try to find a shop that has worked on VW Syncro's.
The drive train is Steyr-Puch and similar enough.
