I saw an Execution II Kit on e-bay for $425. I know it helps balance the drive train, but what is the scope of the change and what improvement does it really make?
has anyone done this modification on thier own?

Yes a few folk have done the mod to my knowledge but many entrust it to a shop like mine!
To be frank the incidence of diff failure is small and is generally caused by a lack of lubrication--(neglect or severe abuse)..
The modification itself is to support the planet gears on some bronze bushes. This entails changing the whole assembly and introducing a new allen bolt and captive nut to the gear fixture arr'.
If you keep oil in the axle it will last indefinately but if you abuse it, the bushes will wear like mad and make the rear end more noisy than the origianal in truck.
It makes no actual improvement from a driving aspect, just gives you more peace of mind!
