Gearbox drop link

Post by evopinz »

Has anyone replaced a gear change link (with a ball joint each end) which is attached to the gearbox.Do the ball joints just snap on? There is not much room under the Pinz. Do I have to pull things apart?
Is there a trick to it and does it require a bit of grease?
Thanks in advance

It's an easier fix if you remove the pyramidal cover that is on the rear deck above the gearbox.

I successfully installed the new drop link on the weekend. With the pyramid cover removed it was a lot easier.I popped the top ball joint on with a 'G' clamp and then held the bottom of the link with a spanner on the lock nut to stop it turning while I poppped the bottom joint on the ball with a large screw driver by levering off the body of the truck.
Thanks to everyone on the forum for your guidance. :D
