Locker rebuild??

Morris, guys, you were incredibly accurate on the diagnosis and the method of removing the knobs. When I removed the knobs with a spanner wrench and a slight tap from a hammer, the knobs popped off and one of the metal spacers did run off into never never land. I also broke both part 21 and 27 (as expected). I've ordered replacements and am waiting on them to come in.

Since you guys nailed the problem on the head before I even opened the cover plate, pray tell the best way of replacing the two parts I popped. (Middle lever and popped the cast metal below the lever and the one next to it that engages the locker) I see a bolt on the passenger side which seems to hold the levers in place and the cast pieces I'm replacing seem to slide on a shaft. Also, how do I get the piece of the linkage that connects to the lever off of the broken part and on to the replacement part?
