Front Spring Compressor DIY Tool to Remove Springs

Post by undysworld »

If/when you need to remove the front springs from a Pinzgauer, you should do it safely. Normal strut compressors like these: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1260 ... Toolsmv=rr are probably too light. If they break, you've got a heavy spring flying around your garage. It's a good chance someone might get hurt or killed.

The factory tool is what you need. I managed to see one, at Linden Eng., and had a blacksmith make me a tool to do the job. Photos of my tool were posted on a recent thread by Techmoguy (thanks Dan), here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7145&p=56743#p56743

I apologize for cross posting, but I want the tool pictures to be searchable by those who might be looking for such a tool. If anyone has photos of a factory tool to add to this thread, that would be terrific.

I'm not making any claims about suitability or safety of any tool you make. Choose your materials carefully. Happy wrenching!
