stiff clutch pedal / low engagement

Post by Jimpinz »

While on a several hour off-road trip in my 710 Pinz, I noticed the clutch pedal starting to get stiff. I bled the old fluid when I returned home, which was brown and contained some debris, but the problem still continues. There's no leaking at the master or slave cylinders. Another symptom is that the clutch engages low; an inch or so off floor. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the response and welcome!

The clutch and pressure plate have recently been replaced with the pressure plate being resurfaced. The slave cylinder actuates when pedal is depressed. The pedal is not extremely tight, but it is harder than normal. Would you recommend getting a master cylinder rebuild kit?

The clutch master cylinder is easy to rebuild and the kit is reasonable so I would give it a go.
Good luck!

Well, after having Mike from SWPA look at my clutch pedal/engagement last night, I will hold off on the MC repair kit. Mike says the pedal doesn't feel that bad (pretty normal).

Thanks again Mike for your help and it was great meeting all the guys from SWPA!

It is very good to have others that are familiar with the vehicle to be able to advise when it is 'in tolerance'.
sometimes if the sounds and 'feels' are unfamiliar it is wise to bring in another opinion, especially from
someone that is a long time owner.

Although I've owned my pinz for 10 years, I don't get to drive it much. My daily driver is a Jeep Wrangler which has a mush softer clutch. I will use that as my excuse, lol.

Thanks guys for all the input!
