On another note: Isn't that differential a nifty piece of engineering?!?! It's almost worth opening up just to appreciate the complexity therein.
And wow is all I can say about the diff internals. My brother in law has owned his own garage for decades and has never seen anything quite like it. If I had an extra set of gears and a box laying around, I'd leave it open and on dispaly so people can come over and give it a few spins!
Scott put up this video sometime back, shows an open drivetrain in motion.
Funny how MC was going to ship to you....unless you are an established customer. This the response I got:

Subject: Your Inquiry to McMaster-Carr
Hi
Due to the complexity of U.S. export regulations, McMaster-Carr accepts international orders only from our established customers. This decision also applies to orders shipping within the United States, because it is based on the final destination of the items. We will not provide a quotation or accept your orders.

Hello. I was wondering if you ship packages to Canada? I am looking at item 91290A542. Thanks!
I got a phone call after I placed the order. While they have no problem shipping to new customers, I was told that I would need to have it shipped to a place of business, not a home address. They are currently working on shipping to home addresses apparently.
