Gearbox fluid change intervals?

Diffs, axles, lockers, transmissions, portals, that kind of thing.

Gearbox fluid change intervals?

Post by Twin Pinzies »

I searched but found no real consensus. ?
How often do you guys and gals change the gear fluids in your portals, diffs, and transfer case/transmission?
I change them once per summer. My trucks only get used May-Oct. and are stored inside all winter. Seems a little excessive, but I'd rather err on the side of preventative maintenance rather than repair maintenance.

I haven't changed mine in a few years, but I don't many miles on it, and I'm using synthetic in all but the portals.

Page 214 in the operators manual -- every 6000 miles, 10,000 km or 200 hours

I use Redline and rarely change it out. At least two years goes by and of course annual mileage is way under the everyday car.
