Post VDO Speedometer upgrade with Telltales
Both the VDO speedometer and fuel indicator (not accurate) have not been working in the 710 for a couple years. I am unable to calibrate the VDO speedometer due to some internal issue with it. So one of the things on my list is to upgrade/refine the dash panel. I had previously made a new one going away from the Pinz dash.
I have recently looked at some of the new VDO speedometers and this one caught my eye, p/n: A2C53408268-S.

Has hall effect sensor for the speed and has additional telltales: turn signal, hazards, oil pressure, and high beam. I think using those built in indicators would be pretty sweet. I have already deviated from the pinz annunciation panel so taking those wires as designated on the colored pinz wiring diagram should simply be able to input into the new gauge connector.

Has anyone had experience with this gauge?

Manual is in the link ... 2-24v.html ... 8268-s.htm

both the VDO speedo units I put in these trucks have failed. The one in the 710, I don't recall exactly what portion of it died and the one in my 712 no longer read speed or distance. I still have a lit background and the old reading of the mileage when the gauge feels like letting me see it. If this gauge works it would be a different look. Justin, I still have the paperwork from the original speedos that you can use to try and calibrate the speedo in the 710 if you have not already found the information online.

I have found that these VDO speedometers are sensitive to operating voltage.
Running much below 13V mine is erratic, no LCD read-out and needle moves wildly.
Running at >13V all is good.

This particular model indicates a wide operating voltage range from 12-24V should
be more forgiving especially running at 24V.
