I have had good success with Petronix in other older vehicles but it seems they are shorter lived here in the Pinz. Most seem to lean towards the ssi system.

My two truck's pertronix ignitions are both 11 years old.
I've gone through about three ignition coils each in that time though.

How long has the SSI system been around? What about life expectancy with that one?

I don't know how long Rick tested the system prior to selling the units, But the developer of that system uses current industry electronic components made to withstand weather and constant vibration(Motorcycle ignitions).

The only thing that will ruin ignitions is a bad voltage regulator.
